I have used this tent for bicycle camping and it always worked well. This is a high quality tent but unfortently it is not freestanding. Because of this, it it limited to certain types of travel.

I now recommend a freestanding tent for traveling. A tent has other benefits other then the standard use as a camping nessesaty. In many hotels and guesthouses the rooms air-conditioner is situated directly in line with the main bed in the room. Not only is the air flow annoying but in many, if not most hotels the air-conditioners are not clean and the air quality can be unhealthy. A solution I have found is to block the air conditioner’s air flow. A tent will help do. Also many beds in Asia, especially the cheaper room rentals do not smell good and in many cases have bugs on the mattresses . Sleeping in a tent on the mattress I have found is very effective in addressing this problem.

There are times when a hotel room is not available in some places and carrying a light weight tent is a reasonable precaution to take.

I have traveld in Northern Thailand and at times found it impossible to find a room that met basic standards. Often the rooms are completely closed with windows sealed and toxic environment. The solution can be to rent a room and sleep on the grounds of the guesthouse outside in a tent. A freestanding tent is ideal for this situation.
